AODA Accessibility

INTRODUCTION

This multi-year accessibility plan (this “Plan”) outlines the policies and actions that Gemini Software L.P. (“Gemini Software”) has implemented, and plans to implement, in order to improve opportunities for people with disabilities and comply with its organizational obligations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA).

This Plan is a fluid document, constituting a framework that proposes high level deliverables and activities over the next five years (2025-2030). It is updated on a regular basis and at least every five (5) years.

This multi-year accessibility plan focuses on our initiatives in respect of the AODA’s Accessibility Standards including:

  • Information and Communications
  • Training
  • Employment
  • Customer Service
  • Design of Public Spaces
  • Feedback

STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT

Gemini Software is committed to the goal of providing an accessible and inclusive environment for all customers, employees, stakeholders, and anyone who enters our premises, contacts us, or accesses our information. We believe in the principles of dignity, independence, integration, and equal opportunity. We are dedicated to meeting the needs of people with disabilities, and strive to do so by removing and preventing barriers to accessibility and fulfilling our requirements under AODA and its associated standards and regulations.

TRAINING

Gemini Software provides training to employees, volunteers and other staff members on accessibility laws and human rights codes as it relates to people with disabilities. Training is provided in a way that best suits the duties of employees, volunteers and other staff members.

We also created the following tools and documents and have made them available on the intranet and upon request:

  1. Our Multi-Year Accessibility Plan;
  2. Our Policy on the Accessibility of Customer Service;
  3. Our Accessibility Training Manual, which includes an overview of the AODA and aguide to interacting with various types of disabilities; and
  4. All other related policies.

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION

Gemini Software is committed to meeting the communication needs of people with disabilities. We consult with people with disabilities to determine their information and communication needs.

Policies, Practices and Procedures

Any policy, practice or procedure of Gemini Software that does not respect and promote the principles of dignity, independence, integration and equal opportunity for all people, including people with disabilities, will be modified or removed. To make sure that its existing policies are even more specific and inclusive of people with disabilities, Gemini Software has reviewed its current policies and has created a statement of commitment (see “Statement of Commitment” above).

Websites

In accordance with the AODA’s Information and Communication Standard, Gemini Software will:

  • Ensure that it provides, on request, accessible formats and supports for people with disabilities in a timely manner and at no additional cost.
  • Maintain at least WCAG 2.0, Level AA on all of its public-facing websites.
  • Continue to evaluate the accessibility level for each of its websites, and define any corrections or modifications necessary for each website to continue to meet accessibility standards.

EMPLOYMENT

Recruitment

Gemini Software is committed to fair and accessible employment practices. We have taken the following steps to notify the public and personnel that, upon request, Gemini Software will accommodate people with disabilities during the recruitment and assessment processes and when people are hired:

  • As soon as we are made aware of the situation, we communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability.
  • All Gemini Software employees, including those involved in the recruitment, assessment and hiring processes, have committed to respecting Gemini Software policies and procedures which are inclusive of people with disabilities.
  • Our job postings all include the following statements:
    “We recognize the value and importance of diversity and inclusion in our communities and in the workplace. We celebrate diversity and one of our goals as an employer is to create an inclusive work environment for all employees. We are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant because of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation including gender identity or expression, pregnancy, national origin, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status, or any other category or characteristic protected by law.

Accessibility Barriers

Gemini Software will take additional steps to prevent and remove other accessibility barriers as soon as they are identified.

DESIGN OF PUBLIC SPACE

Gemini Software does not currently have any plans for new construction or significant redevelopment of its Ontario offices to which the Design of Public Spaces Standard of the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation is applicable. For any future plans to which this Standard would be applicable, however, Gemini Software is committed to complying with the required responsibilities under this Standard.

Notice of Temporary Disruption

In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption in Gemini Software’s facilities or services used by the public, Gemini Software shall notify the public of such disruption and any available alternatives.

Receiving feedback from our employees, customers, and the public is an important part of our commitment to accessibility. We will continue to monitor and respond to feedback promptly.
